Report details

This WTTC report publishes guidelines to combat Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) in the Travel &Tourism sector and integrates the Buenos Aires Declaration and a Zero Tolerance Policy.

The report emphasises the sector's vital role in preventing IWT, highlighting the impact of COVID-19 on conservation funding and poaching. Proposed actions include adopting zero-tolerance policies, raising awareness, promoting responsible wildlife-based tourism and enhancing training. The guidelines encourage businesses to ensure their operations do not contribute to IWT, involve local communities positively and invest in local infrastructure. Success within the Travel and Tourism sector relies on informing and engaging employees, suppliers and customers about illegal wildlife trade, while adhering to international and domestic laws.
