The Caribbean is the region most reliant on Travel & Tourism globally. This report analyses the extent to which the Caribbean’s Travel & Tourism sector was affected by, and has recovered from, the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report assesses and ranks Caribbean economies on various economic measures including:

  • Total and relative contribution of Travel & Tourism to GDP
  • Growth in the sector’s contribution to GDP in 2019 and 2021
  • Forecast growth in the sector’s contribution to GDP in the decade to 2032

The report also provides examples of positive support measures introduced by Caribbean governments to help businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as discussing some of the key regional challenges for the sector, along with recommended solutions. These include:

  • A lack of air connectivity and the prohibitive cost of air travel in the Caribbean
  • The need for more investment infrastructure and digital travel solutions in the region
  • Staff shortages  
  • Crisis preparedness  
  • Sustainability and environmental protection
